Keeping it Brief

Branding Logo Design UI Design UX Design

When a client walks into Facsimile, they're often carrying something irreplaceable. A faded wedding portrait. A damaged photograph of someone they never met. The brief was practical — simplify the intake process — but the design opportunity was bigger than that.

I worked with Bonsai's Shopify development team to build an automated intake system with structured forms and file uploads, reducing back-and-forth and freeing the artist to focus on her craft. The site itself was designed around emotional trust: a featured artist video, detailed restoration imagery, and a step-by-step process that makes a delicate service feel approachable.

The brand identity followed the same logic. The logo's climbing ivy, framed like a vintage portrait, was drawn directly from the clientele: families tracing their genealogy, preserving connections across generations. The muted, sepia-adjacent palette wasn't decorative. It was chosen to harmonize with the vintage photography at the heart of the work.
